BUFFALO SELECTS TWONKYMEDIA SERVER TO POWER MEDIA STREAMING ON NFINITI WIRELESS-N HIGH POWER ROUTER AND ACCESS POINT

Powerful Media Server Software Breaks Down Barriers to Make Streaming digital Content Seamless Throughout the Home

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 9, 2009)—PacketVideo (PV) announced today that its TwonkyMedia™ server software has been selected by Buffalo to enable the seamless sharing of digital content on the WZR-HP-G300NH Nfiniti™ Wireless-N High Power Router and Access Point, available first in Japan in April 2009. TwonkyMedia server is shipping preinstalled in the new Buffalo router, enabling users to stream music, photos and videos to compatible devices in their home networks.

With TwonkyMedia server, Buffalo users can now easily share their digital music, photos and videos by connecting a digital camera, camcorder, mobile phone or USB storage device directly to the USB port on the router, without needing any extra server devices. Consumers benefit from user-friendly menu options, customizable navigation settings, and advanced content search and discovery capabilities.

“With the explosion of digital content that is being created and consumed every day, consumers are looking for easy-to-use solutions that can provide anytime, anywhere access to their data”, said Hajime Nakai, Director, Member of the Board, Broadband Solutions Business Div., Buffalo Inc. “In addition to the existing LinkStation NAS series, Buffalo selected TwonkyMedia server to power digital media streaming on the Nfiniti Wireless-N High Power Router and Access Point based on the software’s ease of use, compatibility and plethora of user options.”
The award-winning software maintains a higher degree of resource efficiency, including lower code size, memory consumption and CPU usage, making it the ideal choice for routers and other home networking products. TwonkyMedia server has been adopted by dozens of leading consumer electronics (CE) manufacturers—more than any other media server software application.

The Nfiniti Wireless-N High Power Router and Access Point provides simple NAS (network attached storage) services on the user’s network for easy file sharing across all connected devices. Buffalo’s QoS (Quality of Service) technology “Movie Engine” ensures that multimedia content will receive priority handling on the network.

“CE manufacturers see the clear value of accelerating convergence by incorporating powerful media server software on products consumers are already purchasing such as routers and NAS devices,” said Kazunori Takagi, president, PV Japan. “PV is helping its partners break down compatibility barriers, making media stored on a standard network accessible throughout the home to drive and meet the next wave of consumer demand.”
