PACKETVIDEO'S NEW MEDIAFUSION CONTENT MANAGEMENT AND DELIVERY PLATFORM CRAFTS USER-CENTERED MEDIA SERVICES
LAS VEGAS – CTIA Booth 3024 (April 1, 2008) – The new MediaFusion™ content management and delivery platform from PacketVideo Corporation (PV) puts the user at the center of media services to create truly compelling and personalized user experiences. PV is demonstrating MediaFusion-powered music and video applications here this week at the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Show.
The MediaFusion platform, first introduced as an on-device portal for rich media services late in 2007, has evolved to include complete music, music store, interactive live TV and video experiences, all of which can be operator-customized and user-personalized.
Improving the User Experience, Creating New Service Business Models
“We’re rapidly moving to a place where the user is the center of media services, controlling and modifying their media environment to suit their individual needs,” said James Brailean, Ph.D., CEO and co-founder of PacketVideo. “With so many rich media services now available in the mobile universe, we addressed the need for streamlining the user experience by unifying services into a single user interface, and creating an end-to-end platform for multiple business models.”
Using MediaFusion’s rich media application server and back-end content management system, PV has developed a powerful engine for gathering user data that can be translated into profiles for personalized and relevant content merchandising, promotions and advertising.

Total Media Convergence: Solving the Three-Screen Dilemma
MediaFusion, when paired with PV’s software for sharing media content in the home called PVConnect™, delivers content feeds and access to online services to home and mobile devices, extending the value of users’ devices as well as their media services. Among the use case scenarios this software combination supports are:
- Using a compatible mobile device, users can access content stored on their home network, including music, video and photo files.
- With networked consumer electronics devices such as compatible PCs, routers, network-attached storage devices, gaming consoles or set-top boxes, users can access and interact with on-line services or locally stored content.
- Users can use their mobile device to share content from their home network devices with another compatible network or mobile device.
MediaFusion is currently powering a music subscription service for Vodafone India. MediaFusion is also the platform used to integrate video services for the upcoming pilot of the TDtv™ mobile broadcast solution in London with Orange and T-Mobile UK, announced at Mobile World Congress in February. The TDtv solution was created by NextWave Wireless, PV’s parent company (NASDAQ: WAVE).
