THE DIGITAL HOME HAS NO WALLS: TWONKYMEDIA™ MANAGER USHERS IN NEW ERA OF CONNECTED HOME MEDIA
Free Trial Available Today Enables Users to Drag and Drop Media to Any Connected Device in the Home
LAS VEGAS (January 8, 2009)—Launching today at www.twonkymedia.com, TwonkyMedia manager makes finding media and playing it back on compatible home devices as simple as drag and drop. As consumers amass increasingly large collections of digital photos, music and videos stored in multiple devices – often from a multitude of applications and online services – TwonkyMedia manager makes it easy for beginners and pros alike to see all the media on their home network and play it on any compatible device in the home.
From watching a photo slideshow on the living room TV, to playing music in every room in the house, to starting a video in the kid’s room, TwonkyMedia manager makes it simple to stream music playlists, photo slideshows and videos within the user’s home network, adding flexibility to the way friends and family enjoy content.
Initially available as a downloadable application for Windows PCs, TwonkyMedia manager is available today for $39.95, providing users an installation for up to three different PCs in their home. A 30-day free trial is available for a limited time.
See It. Play It.
TwonkyMedia manager automatically shows icons for all the connected devices in the home that can play media. Compatible devices include PCs, Smart TVs, audio/visual systems, music devices, digital picture frames – even some smartphones. To play media, the user simply drags the desired media onto the selected device.
“Consumers increasingly want to access their media on many different connected devices,” said PV CEO and Co-Founder James C. Brailean, Ph.D. “TwonkyMedia gives users the freedom to enjoy all of their photos, videos and music without limitation, setting the stage for the next era of connected home media.”
The product works by continuously indexing media items in the home network. TwonkyMedia manager’s powerful media database handles even the largest media libraries, having been certified in testing for 100,000+ items. Multiple playlist formats, including iTunes™ are supported.
Users can search or browse for an item of interest using familiar criteria such as genre or date. They can also mix and match their selections into playlists and slideshows for easier extended viewing. TwonkyMedia manager also supports media feeds from popular web services such as YouTube™, ShoutCast™ and Flickr™. More services will continuously be added over time.
Calling All Gamers
TwonkyMedia manager provides unique support for popular gaming consoles including the Xbox 360™, Sony PlayStation® Portable and Sony PlayStation® 3.
“Today’s game consoles have great multimedia capabilities built-in. Until now, most consumers haven’t used these features because it is too much of a hassle,” said Brailean. “TwonkyMedia manager makes it easy to drag and drop media right on to your favorite game console so you can enjoy it throughout the home.”
